How long are the Medical Wig courses?
This course is completely self paced, meaning the duration is up to you.
We encourage you to take your time completing it to ensure you’re digesting all of the information.
Does the Cranial Prosthesis Course teach me how to install the medical wigs?
No. The role of the Cranial Prosthesis Specialist is not to install the wig. The course focuses on getting you "in network" with insurance companies and billing for medical grade units.
We do plan on working with licensed hairstylists to provide courses on installing medical grade wigs. (If you are a hairstylist that specializes in medical wig installation and would like to work with us please get in touch.)
Is this program accredited? Will I be recognized by insurance companies upon completion?
This intensive course will provide you with the certification you need to get in network with companies and provide medical grade wigs.
I’ve completed the course, but I still have a few questions what do I do?
Remember you are now apart of our network! This means, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. All questions, feedback and comments are welcomed so always feel free to contact us.
I’ve completed the course but I am not trying to find a vendor to source medical grade wigs. Where do I start?
We are working on a full line of medical grade wigs! Contact us for more information.
How long will I have access to the course?
Once enrolled, you have lifetime access to the course and any updates to the course.
I’ve applied to be in network with an insurance company but I have not heard anything back. What should I do?
Remember most insurance companies quote 30-45 days to complete paperwork and processing.
If you are past that window, visit our insurance checklist page in the “BONUS” section of the course for contact information.
I’ve completed the course when should I receive my lab coat and framed cranial prosthesis certificate?
Production and shipping times for lab coats and certificates is 2 weeks.
Does this course teach the application of medical-grade wigs?
The cranial prosthesis specialist course focuses on certifying students to become medical-grade wig suppliers.
Do I have to take any additional steps after completing the course to be certified? Will I need to go through the state board?
No, you will not need to go through the state board to become certified.
A cranial prosthesis specialist is solely a supplier of medical-grade wigs, NOT a physician. As a cranial prosthesis specialist, you will not be responsible for writing prescriptions or diagnosing clients.
You are solely fulfilling the prescription as recommended by the client's dermatologist. Upon completing the course, you will not need to undergo any additional certification to become a cranial prosthesis specialist.
If you have a storefront, does everyone who works in your store need to have this certification or just the owner?
If you have a business with more than one employee, all employees should be certified and HIPPA compliant.
This is important because employees seeing clients should be knowledgeable and ethically compliant with all practices.
I am already a hair loss specialist and licensed cosmetologist; how can this course help me?
This course focuses on billing insurance companies for medical-grade wigs.
Upon completing this course, you will be equipped with the appropriate codes and steps necessary to be in network and successfully bill clients for medical-grade wigs.
Does the course include vendor information?
Yes, the Medical Wig Certification course includes our Medical Wig Sourcing course or you can purchase the course individually if you are already certified and looking for additional information.
