Amos Jordan
Raleigh, North Carolina
I'm Amos Jordan — a licensed cosmetologist, hair restoration specialist, and owner of J's 42nd Trend Hair Restoration Studio LLC in Raleigh, North Carolina.
I've spent more than forty years in hairstyling, cosmetology education and non-surgical hair replacement. These days I specialize in personalized hair and scalp solutions, and in helping people through medically documented hair loss.
Stronger hair starts at the root.
Forty years, and what they're for
Four decades in the beauty industry gives you a lot of technique.
What I've found most rewarding is putting that technique together with my specialized training in medical wigs and cranial prostheses.
I'm a Certified Cranial Prosthesis Specialist and an NPI-certified provider, which means I'm registered as a medical provider and can bill your insurance directly. I make custom-fitted cranial prostheses and medical wigs for people experiencing medically documented hair loss, and I help patients prepare and organize the documentation insurance requires — including the supporting paperwork around medical necessity and the claim itself.
That training came through Wig Medical's cranial prosthesis certification. The fitting I already knew. The medical documentation is what I went back to learn properly.
Why I do this work
Hair loss affects far more than appearance.
It affects your confidence, your self-esteem, and how you feel about yourself — and it usually arrives at a difficult moment in your life.
What I enjoy most about this work is the chance to make a meaningful difference during a very personal and emotional time. That starts with listening. I want to hear your concerns, understand what you actually need, and build a cranial prosthesis that helps you feel comfortable, confident, and more like yourself again.
For me this isn't simply about replacing hair. It's about restoring confidence and providing care while you go through something hard.
A private suite, start to finish
Every service happens in a private suite.
Not everyone wants to have this conversation in an open salon with other people within earshot, and you shouldn't have to. My aim is that you feel better walking out than you did walking in.
Because I'm a licensed cosmetologist as well as a certified specialist, I can take you through the whole process myself — the consultation, the custom fitting, the documentation, the insurance claim, and the installation of your unit. You're not being handed off halfway through to somebody you've never met.
If you haven't seen one before, a medical-grade cranial prosthesis is built differently from a retail wig — a breathable base rather than lace, worn without glue, made for a scalp that may be sensitive or healing. It's a medical device, and it should look like your own hair.
What I can and can't promise about insurance
Your doctor — usually a dermatologist or an oncologist — writes the prescription.
One word on it carries real weight: it should say cranial prosthesis, not wig. The first is a medical device; the second reads as a cosmetic purchase, and that distinction decides a great many claims. Here's how insurance coverage for a cranial prosthesis works if you'd like the full picture before we speak.
I won't tell you reimbursement is guaranteed, because nobody honestly can. Coverage depends on your plan, your state, your diagnosis, your documentation and your supplier status, and Original Medicare doesn't cover cranial prostheses at all at present. What I will do is help you navigate the documentation carefully, because a good share of denials come down to how something was written rather than whether you were ever truly excluded.

On community
I'm grateful to be part of a community of professionals who push me not to go stagnant — to keep growing, developing and sharpening my skills.
What I value most is the balance. We know how to come together, socialize and enjoy ourselves, and we also know how to encourage each other to stay focused on our goals. Being around people committed to growth makes me better at what I do. For me, real community means growing together, celebrating each other's wins, and helping one another keep sight of the vision.
