How long does the whole process take?
It depends mostly on two things: how quickly your physician provides documentation, and whether your plan requires prior authorization. Intake and benefit review typically move within days. Can I skip the insurance part and just pay?
Yes. A self-pay path is completely valid and some people prefer it for speed or privacy. Tell Wig Medical you want to go that route and the case moves straight to specialist matching and consultation.
What if I already have a specialist I like?
Tell us. If they have completed Wig Medical certification we will happily work alongside them. If they have not, we can tell them about the training, and either way we will help you with the insurance and documentation side.
Does Wig Medical sell the wig?
Wig Medical coordinates the case. The consultation, fitting, and delivery are performed by the Cranial Prosthesis Specialist you are matched with. Wig Medical also trains and certifies specialists, which is how it knows what to look for in one.
What happens when my prosthesis wears out?
Your case stays with Wig Medical. A replacement runs through the same path, and because your history is already on file the documentation stage is usually much faster the second time. Many plans limit how often a cranial prosthesis can be replaced, and Wig Medical will tell you what your plan allows.
