Asia Suggs
Celina, Texas
Hi, I'm Asia Suggs. I'm a Certified Cranial Prosthesis Specialist in Celina, Texas, and the founder of Pure Hair Emporium.
I came to this work from two directions at once, and I think both of them matter if you're deciding whether to call me.
I spent seventeen years inside health insurance
Before any of this, I worked in health insurance for over seventeen years — program management, client support, vendor relationships, and working alongside operational, compliance and clinical teams.
That sounds like a different life, and in some ways it was. But it taught me how to read a complicated process and explain it to someone in plain language, which turns out to be most of what this job is.
When your claim comes back with language nobody explains to you, I've spent nearly two decades on the side of the table that writes those letters.
That's the background I brought with me when I went through cranial prosthesis specialist certification.
And then it happened to my own hair
I started Pure Hair Emporium in 2025 because of something I was going through myself.
After years of wearing extensions, I noticed my hair thinning. I needed a different styling solution — something that would protect my natural hair instead of pulling on it. So I started building customized, low-tension units, first for me and then for other people.
Around the same time my hair started going gray, and I had no desire to color it. That led to something I'm genuinely proud of: I began creating units with personalized gray blends, so women could match their own gray while still having the range of textures you normally only find in natural-colored hair. If you're graying and you've been told your only option is to cover it, I'd like you to know that isn't true.
I took a number of courses learning to construct and customize fashion wigs. But I wanted the business to serve a deeper purpose than styling, and that's why I became certified in cranial prosthesis work.
What I want your appointment to feel like
My own experience with thinning hair taught me how personal hair is.
You want to look in the mirror and still recognize yourself. That's the whole thing, really — that's what draws me to this.
So what I care about is listening first. I want you to feel heard, comfortable telling me what actually matters to you, and supported while we find something that reflects your personality and your style rather than someone else's idea of what you should wear.
You have your own preferences, your own story, and your own definition of confidence. I'd like to meet those rather than hand you a standard answer.
What I handle, and what I'll be honest with you about
As a cranial prosthesis specialist, I handle the consultation, sourcing a unit that suits your diagnosis and your head, preparing your documentation, and submitting the claim to your insurance.
Your doctor — usually a dermatologist or an oncologist — writes the prescription. One detail carries a lot of weight: it should say cranial prosthesis, not wig. The first is a medical device, the second reads as a cosmetic purchase, and that single word decides a surprising number of claims. If you want to see the whole process laid out, here's how insurance coverage for a cranial prosthesis works.
Here's the part my insurance years make me want to say clearly. Coverage depends on your plan, your state, your diagnosis, your documentation and your supplier status. Original Medicare does not cover cranial prostheses at all right now. Nobody can promise you an outcome before your plan is actually checked. What I will tell you is that many denials turn out to be documentation problems rather than genuine exclusions, and that is exactly the kind of problem I know how to work.
I should also be clear that I don't list installation among my services. I handle the consultation, the documentation and the billing; if you need your unit applied, I can point you toward a licensed cosmetologist. That's a normal partnership in this field, not a gap in your care.
If you're still working out what's causing your hair loss, there's a plain-English guide to the types of medical hair loss here on the site. And if it would help to understand how a medical-grade cranial prosthesis differs from the wigs you've seen before, that's explained too.
On community
What I love most about a community is the connection — getting to know people, learning from their experiences, and showing up for each other.
I value kindness and the small gestures that make someone feel welcome.
That's the kind of connection I hope to build through my business: a place where people feel comfortable being themselves and supported through whatever they're going through.
